Happy New Year to one and all.
I recently received my 3rd rejection from 2000ad. As soon as the self adressed envelope pops through the mail box you know that you've been rejected. I feel as though I'm becoming an old hand on the rejection front but at least they reply.
The reply letters are getting shorter. This time focused on my overloading of the panels with too much detail (fair comment) and lack of attention to anatomy (almost everyone can stand to improve on this, so again fair comment). They were kind enough to suggest I showed promise but this looks a bit like a cut and paste part of all the letters.
On the upside I got the Wacom digital pen and tablet for Christmas. So I'll be posting the results of my inking experiments in the near future.
Cheers for 2009 Tom

1000
Broke 1000 hits finally. Not an art celeb yet but a big thanks to the many who are kind enough to comment, virtually all of which is encouraging and helpful.
I got some good feedback from a recent submission to a great writer. The comments were generally positive though just getting a response was thrill enough.
Anyway, more posts soon. Hopefully some in colour and ink this time.
Cheers Tom
Moving on
Still awaiting that big break and working on amateur projects. I went to visit Hope Street Studios in Glasgow last week
http://www.hopestreetstudios.com and still shaking from the experience. Great to meet professionals working in the field.
Inspired and intimidated in equal measure.
Anyway onwards and upwards more posts soon.
Tom
Starving Artist
I'm a UK based penciller hoping to go pro. I've been working on comics for years but most of this work is from '03 on. As well as the sequential pages, I've got a load of sketchbook stuff to post so watch this space.
Some good responses to my work through submissions but no commissions as yet.

It must be really tough to get in 2000ad. I mean I can't believe that an artist as good as you could be rejected.
Anyway, all good wishes for you this year, Tom. And congrats for the Wacom. I totally envy you
